EAZA Animal Welfare Forum 2026
Join us for the next edition of the EAZA Animal Welfare Forum, hosted by Antwerp Zoo. Previous editions brought together nearly 200 representatives of zoos and aquariums, animal welfare organisations and academic institutions for three days of workshops, presentations and other activities, discussing and highlighting an evidence-based approach to animal welfare and bridging the gap between welfare research and application.
Themes will include: Animal-centered decision making, AI and technology in welfare monitoring, practical application of welfare assessments, cognitive and affective states, ethics and welfare, conservation welfare and more.
There will also be an EAZA Academy course on Quality of Life Assessments held prior to the event. Spaces are limited, so register early.

« Engaging Minds, Saving Species »
Inspiring conservation through zoo science and public engagement
We celebrate the power of science and storytelling to shape a better future for wildlife. In an era of increasing biodiversity loss, zoos and aquariums remain uniquely positioned as hubs for conservation research, education, and public engagement. The 6th IMZRCB committee invites you to share knowledge, form new collaborations, and explore how zoo-based science can spark meaningful action – from local communities to global initiatives. Together we’ll highlight the impact of engaging hearts and minds in the mission to learn about, understand and protect our planet’s vulnerable species.

EAZA Conservation Forum 2026
Species conservation is one of the predominant objectives of EAZA and its Members. The conservation role of zoos and aquariums extends far beyond helping to save endangered species through ex situ population management programmes. Through their links with in situ projects, EAZA Members are also active in the conservation of species within their habitats and entire ecosystems. The EAZA Conservation Forum is a biennial event bringing together over 100 representatives of zoos and aquariums, conservation organisations and in situ conservation projects for three days of workshops, presentations and other activities.
The EAZA Conservation Forum 2026 will be hosted by Opel-Zoo (Germany), from 19 – 22 May, 2026.
Registration via this site will open here. Information about accommodation, the programme/speakers and travel will be added in due course.
